Severe rainstorms have caused significant disruptions to train services across several regions in eastern China.
According to Report, which cites Chinese media, in Huangshan city, located in the eastern province of Anhui, all train arrivals and departures were suspended for 24 hours on Tuesday. The same province saw the closure of Jingxian County station, further exacerbating travel woes.
The threat of floods and landslides due to heavy rains led to substantial disruptions in railway operations Shanghai. On June 25 alone, over 50 trains were canceled at various stations across the city.
The neighboring eastern province of Jiangxi faced similar challenges. Local authorities made the difficult decision to halt train movement on several high-speed rail lines.
As of Tuesday, China's Central Meteorological Service maintained a red alert - the highest level of warning - due to heavy rains. This alert primarily covers the eastern, central, and southern regions of the country.
Earlier reports confirmed that dozens of people have lost their lives in recent days due to landslides and floods triggered by the relentless downpours.
