The number of new daily coronavirus infections in Tokyo hit a single-day record of 224, Report says, citing TASS.
The record follows the confirmation of 75 new coronavirus infections the previous day in the capital, dropping to double digits for the first time in seven days.
The tally, down from 106 on Tuesday, brought the total number of cases in Tokyo to 7,048. Of the 75 cases, 33 were in their 20s, and 17 were in their 30s, according to the metropolitan government.
The number of confirmed cases related to nightlife establishments has risen recently, totaling 24 on Wednesday. Nine were in Shinjuku, famous for various types of nightclubs, and three were in Ikebukuro, a major commercial and entertainment district, the official said.
