Tokayev: New law on rallies under development in Kazakhstan

A new law on rallies will be developed in Kazakhstan and illegal rallies will be prevented, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev told Euronews.

"Everything that is illegal will naturally be prevented. The general prosecutor's office has repeatedly warned of the illegality of such street rallies. Unsantioned rallies and unrests - all bother the people who do not want to take part in such actions. A law will be developed. People who want to join the rallies and express their opinions will apply to the respective instances. A special place will be allocated for them to gather and express their views," Tokayev said.

The law on the order of organizing and holding peaceful rallies, meetings, marches, piquets and demonstrations is currently effective in Kazakhstan.
