The Reykjavik City Council of the Icelandic capital has decided to name three new streets in honor of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, Report informs, citing Iceland's Morgunblaðið.
The streets named after the Baltic states will be located in the new district, which is planned to be built in the east of Reykjavík.
Iceland was the first country to recognize the independence of the Baltic States in 1991.
A spokesman for Reykjavík City Council said there were streets and squares in Iceland’s three capitals named in honor of Iceland, and Reykjavik now wants to respond to this friendship with a similar step.
