Death sentences are scheduled to be carried out against three inmates in the US states of Tennessee, Alabama and Oklahoma on August 13.
According to the Associated Press, cited by Report, this would be the first time in nearly 16 years that three executions have been scheduled in the United States on the same day. All three are to be carried out by lethal injection.
In Tennessee, Anthony Darrell Hines is scheduled to be executed. He was convicted of the 1985 murder of a housekeeper. In Alabama, Jeremy Williams is scheduled to be executed after being convicted of the rape and murder of a five-year-old girl. In Oklahoma, Carlos Cuesta-Rodriguez was sentenced to death after being found guilty of murdering his girlfriend in 2003.
According to the AP, the three executions on the same day are indicative of an increase in the number of executions carried out in the United States. In 2025, 47 death sentences were carried out in the country, the highest number since 2009.
