The European Union (EU) must transfer the last 1.5 billion euros of this year's ongoing budget assistance program of 18 billion euros to Kyiv by the end of December, European Commission Spokesperson Ana Pisonero, Report informs via TASS.

“The EU intends to transfer 1.5 billion euros to Ukraine by the end of the year as the last payment under this year’s macro-financial assistance program worth 18 billion euros,” she said.

She emphasized that further, the EU countries must agree on a revision of the long-term EU budget for the period until 2027 by the end of the year in order to approve a new macro-financial assistance program of the European Commission until 2027 in the amount of up to 50 billion euros.

A discussion about this will take place at the EU summit on December 14-15. According to the European Commission's proposal, EU countries must make additional contributions from their budgets to ensure financing for Kyiv.
