Taliban welcome Russian plans to remove them from blacklist

The Taliban, who have seized power in Afghanistan, welcome Russian President Vladimir Putin's statement on the possibility of removing the movement from the list of terrorist groups, Spokesperson for the Afghan Foreign Ministry in the interim government Abdul Qahar Balkhi said, Report informs referring to TASS.

“Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan welcomes remarks by President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, regarding removal of names of IEA leaders from the blacklist. As the chapter of war has come to an end, so too must world countries bring a positive change in their relation & approach towards Afghanistan. We seek positive relations with the international community based on the principle of reciprocity,” Abdul Qahar Balkhi tweeted.

Speaking at a plenary session of the 18th Annual Meeting of the Valdai International Discussion Club on October 21, Putin admitted the possibility of excluding the Taliban from the list of terrorist groups, stressing that Moscow will be moving in this direction.
