The interim government of Afghanistan formed by the Taliban radical movement that seized power in the country has called on the Dutch government to punish the extremist for the desecration of Quran outside the Dutch parliament.
"IEA condemns in the strongest possible terms the tearing and desecration of the Holy Quran by a bigoted politician in the Hague, Netherlands," the Taliban Foreign Ministry said on Twitter, Report informs via TASS.
"IEA calls on the Dutch government to punish the extremist and end his political activities to prevent the systematic spread of contempt, bigotry and hatred towards the sacred religion of Islam and Muslims," the message says.
Taliban also called on the leaders of Islamic countries to adopt a united position towards such actions "so the Muslims can effectively defend their religion."
