Tajikistan, EU intend to sign enhanced partnership agreement

Tajikistan and the European Union plan to sign an Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (EPC), Report informs referring to the Republic's Foreign Ministry.

The move comes following negotiations between the deputy head of the department, Ismatullo Nasredin, and Deputy Director of the EU Foreign Service Department for Cooperation with Central Asia and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, Luke Devin.

As noted in the message, the parties exchanged views on the agreement. The website of the EU Embassy in Tajikistan also states that negotiations on the document are planned to “be completed in the near future.”

It is emphasized that the agreement “will deepen the existing partnership between the EU and Tajikistan and expand bilateral cooperation in new areas, taking relations to a new, more ambitious level.” “The EU reaffirmed its continued support for the stability and prosperity of Tajikistan and its reform efforts,” the embassy added.
