Tajikistan has accused neighboring Kyrgyzstan of provoking a new border clash, Report informs.
The border between the two countries, both of which have Russian military bases and are closely linked to Moscow, is poorly demarcated.
The Tajik Foreign Ministry claimed that on Friday, Kyrgyz servicemen deliberately and illegally crossed the border near the village of Vorukh.
When the Tajik border guards ordered to leave, the Kyrgyz troops refused and opened fire. Return fire was opened, after which both sides agreed on a ceasefire.
Tajikistan says that Kyrgyzstan has violated an agreement not to send regular troops to the border areas. Dushanbe calls such a violation "an unacceptable step leading to a sharp aggravation of the situation on the border."
