Syrian president votes in parliamentary elections

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has voted in the parliamentary elections at one of the polling stations in Damascus, Report informs referring to the Presidential Office.

"President Bashar al-Assad voted in the election of members of the People's Council at one of the polling stations in Damascus," Assad's office said.

Syria holds elections to the People's Council (parliament) on July 15. More than 1,500 candidates are running for 250 seats in the Syrian parliament. There are over 8,100 polling stations across the country. The current parliamentary elections are the fourth for Syria since the start of the armed conflict in the country in 2011.
