Syria, Türkiye establish joint business council

Ankara and Damascus have announced the establishment of a Syria-Türkiye Business Council under the Foreign Economic Relations Council, Report informs via SANA agency.

The two countries have also signed 10 cooperation agreements, according to the joint statement by Syria's Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, Mohammad Nidal al-Shaar, and Türkiye's Minister of Trade, Omer Bolat.

"The Foreign Economic Relations Council will contribute to strengthening cooperation between the public and private sectors of both countries," the statement reads.

The parties have agreed to work together to strengthen Syrian customs points and infrastructure, improve border procedures, and expand mutual communication between customs authorities.

Additionally, the parties have made decisions to establish a joint economic and trade committee, sign a memorandum of understanding on administrative development and governance aimed at strengthening Syria’s infrastructure, and develop mechanisms to enhance the quality of public services. Institutional steps were also identified to support the restoration of Syria’s industrial sector.
