Switzerland to hand over mine-clearing equipment to Ukraine

Switzerland will donate a remote-controlled tracked mine-clearing vehicle, a truck with a trailer and spare parts to the authorities in Kyiv in September for three years. The total cost of these technical means is 1.2 million francs (more than $1.35 million), Report informs referring to the press service of the Swiss government.

The report says that the military department will transfer to the Ukrainian emergency service a remote-controlled demining vehicle in zones contaminated since the beginning of the conflict with mines, cluster munitions and military explosive remnants.

In addition to a tracked vehicle capable of clearing anti-personnel mines, the technical equipment transferred to Kyiv includes a truck with a trailer and a batch of spare parts for three years, the report says.

On August 29, the Swiss Digger Foundation handed over the demining vehicle to the Defense Department. In September, the Van For Life association will deliver this equipment to Ukraine. In turn, the Swiss Digger Foundation will organize on-site training of Ukrainian specialists.
