Supreme Rada approves new Interior Minister to replace Avakov

At today's session, the Supreme Rada (parliament) of Ukraine discussed and approved the candidacy to replace Arsen Avakov, Armenian by nationality, who resigned two days ago.

Report's Eastern European bureau informs, citing the Parliament, that Denys Monastyrsky became the new Minister of Internal Affairs. He represents the Servant of the People party.

His candidacy was nominated by the party leader, country's President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Monastyrsky earlier chaired the Supreme Rada Committee on issues of law enforcement activity.
