Sunak, Macron agree to work together to ensure stable energy situation

New British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has discussed global issues and cooperation in the energy sector in a telephone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron, reads a statement published on the website of the British government on October 28, Report informs referring to Interfax.

“The leaders decided to work together to ensure a more stable future for the energy industry. In particular, this includes cooperation in the field of nuclear energy,” the statement said.

Sunak and Macron spoke about the situation in Ukraine, and the leaders of both countries noted the importance of continuing to work to support Kyiv.

The prime minister also said that the UK and France should make the English Channel route inaccessible to smugglers of migrants, and the leaders agreed to deepen cooperation on this issue.

In addition, Macron congratulated Sunak on taking office as Prime Minister of the UK.
