From February 1, 2023, citizens of Azerbaijan can apply for the Latvian State Scholarship program to study in higher educational institutions of this country, as well as to participate in summer schools, the Ministry of Education and Science of Latvia said, Report informs.
Students who have completed at least one year of education in Azerbaijani or Latvian universities can apply. Scholarships for bachelor's and master's degrees are for one academic year (10 months, doctoral students - up to 11 months). The scholarship amount is 500 euros per month for bachelor's and master's degrees and 700 euros per month for PhD.
Re-application is required for the following year, and the scholarship can be awarded to an individual for no more than two consecutive terms. The application process is usually organized online through Dream Apply or other platforms.
In addition, the ministry said that students, academic and scientific workers of foreign universities, have the right to receive scholarships to participate in summer schools.
The VIAA Latvia Summer School Scholarship is 1,000 euros per person for the entire period. However, the summer school participants must pay their travel expenses from their country to the venue in Latvia.
The list of summer schools for next year will be announced on February 1 and published on the websites of VIAA and StudyinLatvia. Applications should be submitted directly to the summer school organizers.
This year, 60 applications were received from Azerbaijani citizens to get scholarships. 13 of them received scholarships for higher education. 2 citizens of Azerbaijan participated in summer schools.
