Stockholm fails to persuade Turkey to change its mind about Sweden's NATO accession

Swedish Foreign Minister Ann Linde and Finnish Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto held talks with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoğlu during an informal meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Berlin to discuss the possibility of the Nordic countries joining the alliance, Report informs with reference to Ann Linde's interview with SVT.

According to the Swedish minister, no agreement was reached at the meeting, and the parties will continue talks on this issue:

"We have different views, but we have openly stated that we consider the PKK a terrorist organization. Like many other NATO allies, we are in talks with other Kurdish organizations," she said.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Friday that Ankara does not welcome the accession of Finland and Sweden to NATO, calling the Nordic countries guesthouse for the PKK members.
