State of emergency declared in Florida

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has declared a state of emergency for Broward County in response to severe flooding, the governor said on Twitter, Report informs.

“FLSERT has resources on the ground and is providing aid. Residents in these areas should follow all orders from local officials and stay away from floodwaters,” he tweeted.

The region recorded widespread rainfall totals of more than a foot, while Fort Lauderdale, which experienced the rainiest day in its history Wednesday, tallied 25.91 inches in a 24-hour period, according to preliminary reports from the National Weather Service office in Miami.
