Germany's Upper Bavaria administrative district has declared a state of emergency due to flooding and landslides caused by heavy rains, Report informs via German media.
There are a lot of landslides, and the fire brigade is overloaded, said a representative of the single unified control center in Traunstein.
Berchtesgaden and Bischofswiesen in southeastern Bavaria were particularly affected. Some houses have already been cleared of the landslides' consequences, and residents are urged to avoid the basements and streets as water flows through them.
The flood has also come to Saxon Switzerland on the Germany-Czechia border. Some settlements have been cut off, and the railway connection got interrupted. The German authorities assess the situation as "tense, but manageable."
