Spain: Pandemic victims exceed 17,000

Deaths increased by 619 in the past 24 hours and were likely to exceed 17,000 in Spain, Report says, citing Reuters.

According to Spain Health Ministry, the number of new cases increased from 166,019 to 169,496.

Notably, the coronavirus infection emerged in December last year in the Chinese city of Wuhan, 210 states and regions have reported on confirmed cases so far.

People infected with a new type of coronavirus in the world have exceeded 1,862,000, resulting in 431,613 recovering and 114,980 deaths.

On February 11, the World Health Organization (WHO) officially named the new type of coronavirus as COVID-19, and on March 11, declared it a pandemic.
