Shmyhal: Ukraine to receive €85M grant through EBRD for gas purchase

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and a European country will provide Ukraine with €85 million for the purchase of additional gas volumes, First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal said, Report informs via Interfax-Ukraine.

Shmyhal wrote on Telegram Tuesday that Ukraine secured €85 million through EBRD instruments to purchase additional volumes of gas. Work is also nearly complete on obtaining a grant from one of the European countries, he added.

He said the topic was discussed during an online conversation with EBRD President Odile Renaud-Basso.

"We are grateful to our partners for this! We will continue cooperating to find additional sources of financing," the energy minister emphasized.

He added that ongoing financial support from the EBRD for Ukrenergo and Ukrhydroenergo is also critically needed, as it helps cover repairs, equipment, and the implementation of new solutions to ensure people have electricity and heating.
