SDF may soon announce full dissolution, Al Hadath says

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) coalition is expected to announce its full dissolution and withdrawal from areas in Syria that it controlled for more than 10 years, Report informs, citing Al Hadath.

The TV channel attributed the information to a source close to the Syrian government.

The source said senior SDF officials were likely to announce the coalition's dissolution at a press conference, which would be covered by state media. The event is planned for early August.

However, the source said the timing could change until the issue of the return of Kurdish displaced persons to the Tel Abyad and Ras al-Ayn areas is resolved. This is one of the main demands of the SDF and the self-administration bodies.

Earlier, Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa told Al Jazeera that implementation of the agreement with the Kurdish side was moving more slowly than expected, but expressed confidence that it would be successfully carried out.
