Scotland reports first cases of Omicron strain

Omicron strain is gradually sweeping across Great Britain, with the first six cases of infection reported in Scotland, Secretary for Justice of this administrative and political part of the United Kingdom, Humza Haroon Yousaf, said.

Report informs, citing TASS, that according to Yousaf, all cases of infection with the new strain were revealed in the Glasgow neighborhood. There are nine known cases of the omicron strain in Great Britain so far.

Amid the spreading virus, the Kingdom authorities applied new regulations for all arrivals. Starting November 30, all those arriving in the country will have to pass a PCR test and self-isolate before the test results come out. The UK also included ten African countries into the high-risk list, mandating the quarantine in designated hotels for those from the indicated countries at their own expense. The government will also mandate the masks in public transport, shops, and groceries from November 30.
