Scotland reports first case of monkeypox infection

The first case of monkeypox was recorded in Scotland, according to the message from the regional health service (Public Health Scotland, PHS), Report informs citing RIA Novosti.

"Monkeypox has been confirmed in one individual in Scotland. He is receiving care and treatment appropriate to his condition, and contacts are being traced," the statement said.

PHS added that they are working with the UK Health Agency (UKHSA), the Public Health Agencies of Wales, and Northern Ireland to monitor and respond to potential and confirmed cases of monkeypox in the UK. According to PHS director of science Nick Fin, this could include vaccination offers.
