Saudi Arabia appoints ambassador to Syria after 12 years

Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has appointed a new ambassador to Syria. The kingdom’s diplomatic mission in Damascus, which was closed in 2012, will be headed by Seif bin Saud al-Mujfel, according to the Saudi Press Agency, Report informs referring to TASS.

Saudi Arabia and Syria agreed to restore diplomatic relations in May 2023.

The Arab Embassy in Riyadh resumed work several months after the normalization of relations between the countries.

Earlier this year, Saudi Arabia opened its embassy in Damascus, led by Charge d’Affaires Abdullah al-Harith.
