Russia to open humanitarian corridor to evacuate civilians from Ukraine's Azovstal steelworks

Russia will reopen a humanitarian corridor for the evacuation of civilians from Azovstal steelworks in Ukraine’s Mariupol, Russia's Joint Coordination Headquarters for Humanitarian Response, said in a statement.

Report informs referring to Interfax that the corridor will operate from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. (GMT+4) on May 5, 6 and 7.

“During this period, the Russian Armed Forces... unilaterally cease any hostilities, units get back to a safe distance and ensure the withdrawal of civilians in any direction they choose, both to Russia and the areas controlled by the Kyiv authorities,” reads the message.

The corridor is intended for the evacuation of civilians (working personnel, women and children), who are sheltering in the underground facilities of the steelworks.
