Russia ready to consider Iran as mediator on Ukraine

Russia is ready to consider Iran as a mediator in resolving the situation in Ukraine if such a proposal is received, said Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Andrei Rudenko at a session of the Valdai Discussion Club, Report informs referring to TASS.

“So far we have not received such specific signals from our Iranian friends, but if Iran shows interest in joining the mediation efforts that are currently being carried out by about a couple of dozen countries, we are ready to consider it,” the deputy minister said.

He added that negotiations with Ukraine will take place when Kyiv is ready for this; there is no need to set deadlines.

"Moscow doesn't expect any surprises from the NATO summit - the decisions taken there will be aimed at escalating the situation," he noted.
