A resolution that will help advance the UNSC reform process will be proposed at the upcoming General Assembly (GA) session in September, President of the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly María Fernanda Espinosa Garcés said at the site of the Valdai international discussion club, Report informs.
"We need to continue to work on the reform of the UN Security Council. Council reform is one of the most difficult issues separating the countries. This year we will be able to hold a resolution that can reduce tensions and strengthen cooperation in the matter of Security Council reform," she said.
Notably, the intergovernmental negotiations on the reform of the UN Security Council have been going on for several years, but countries have so far failed to come to a consensus.
