Representative of Martinique: France cruelly punished youth who fought for freedom of their people

France cruelly punished the youth of Martinique, who tried to fight for the freedom of their country and people, Claudette Duhamel, a representative of the Movement of Environmentalists and Democrats for a Sovereign Martinique, said at the International Conference themed "Neocolonialism: Human Rights Violations and Injustice."

Duhamel noted that Martinique has always upheld the principles of justice.

"Can you imagine a monument to Hitler in the center of France? This is unacceptable. However, when young people in Martinique tried to get rid of the monuments of the invaders, the French colonialists brutally punished and imprisoned them," she said.

Claudette Duhamel noted that over the past 400 years, France has not only deprived the people of Martinique of their freedom, but also deliberately caused enormous damage to the health of the population.

"We have become a country with high incidence rates. Although we have repeatedly asked France to send specialists and conduct research, the response has not been satisfactory. Therefore, today we are fighting not only for freedom, but also for the health of future generations," Duhamel said.
