Red Cross urges lifting sanctions on Syria to deal with quake damage

The Syrian branch of the Red Cross called on the global community to immediately lift sanctions imposed on Damascus to eliminate the consequences of the earthquake, the head of the organization Khaled Hboubati said at a press conference, Report informs.

He explained that Syria needs special machinery and equipment.

“We call for lifting the blockade and economic sanctions imposed on Syria to deal with the devastating earthquake…we need heavy equipment, ambulances and fire brigades to expedite search and rescue operations,” he explained.
