Mali: Rebel military announced closure of borders

The military, who staged a mutiny in Mali the day before, announced the closure of the country's land and air borders and the introduction of a curfew, Report says, citing RIA Novosti.

The curfew will operate from 9:00 pm to 05:00 am, said rebel spokesman Ismael Wagh.

Notably, on August 18 in Mali, soldiers raised a mutiny in the capital Bamako area. The military fired at Katya's army base in the suburb of Bamako and arrested several ministers and officers. Moreover, some high-ranking officials were taken to an unknown destination.

The rebels issued an ultimatum to the president of the republic and demanded that the head of state leave the country immediately.

Malian President Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta  announced his resignation on August 19 and announced the dissolution of the parliament and the government's resignation.

We add that the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell said that the European Union condemns the attempted coup d'etat in Mali.
