Protests continue in Martinique

Following in the footsteps of taxi drivers and traders, truck drivers (TIR) in Martinique have now joined the protests against the rising cost of living. Local residents complain that living on the island has become extremely difficult.

Report informs via citing AZERTAC that local residents have expressed support for the truck drivers' strike and condemned the price increases. It is reported that the majority of strategic intercity routes have been blocked. The operation, dubbed "Snail," aims to warn against rising costs in the transportation sector.

Truck drivers have stated that if the situation does not change, they will continue their protests to make their demands heard.

The healthcare sector is planning new strikes on September 26.

The chair of the Martinique Executive Council has stated that the post-colonial economic system has come to an end, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing local production. Martinique Trade Unions have called on residents to strike for an indefinite period.
