President of Laos to visit Russia on May 7-11

President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) Thongloun Sisoulith will visit Russia from May 7 to May 11, the Republic's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement, Report informs via TASS.

"In response to an invitation from Russian President Vladimir Putin, President Thongloun Sisoulith will lead a high-level Laotian delegation that will visit Russia from May 7 to 11," the statement said.

The visit is aimed at strengthening relations and cooperation and is timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty on the Principles of Friendly Relations between Laos and Russia. The Laotian leader, as an honored guest, will take part in festive events dedicated to the 79th anniversary of the Victory over fascism in the Great Patriotic War, the Foreign Ministry clarified.

The previous meeting of the presidents of Russia and Laos took place on October 17, 2023 in Beijing, where they arrived to participate in the Belt, Road international forum.
