President of Indonesia urges EC to be flexible in adopting G20 declaration

Indonesian President Joko Widodo on November 14, at a meeting with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, called on her for support and flexibility in the adoption of the final document at the G20 summit in Bali, Report informs referring to TASS.

“I want the concrete results of the G20 work that the world is waiting for to be achieved. Your support and flexibility would be highly appreciated. I hope that cooperation between Indonesia and the European Union, as well as in the ASEAN-EU format, will continue to be strengthened,” he said.

Earlier, the Politico newspaper, citing sources, reported that the Indonesian president is calling on Western leaders to soften the rhetoric against Russia at the G20 summit in Bali. This is necessary in order for Russia to agree to the adoption of the final resolution, according to the newspaper.

The final declaration of the summit will be considered by Widodo as a ‘personal success.’ Politico notes that Saudi Arabia, India, Brazil and China do not want to condemn Russia in the final declaration of the summit. “Beijing will find impossible” any criticism of Russia, the newspaper emphasizes.
