Pope urges to avoid actions so as not to aggravate situation around Ukraine

Pope Francis has expressed regret over the situation around Ukraine and urged world leaders to avoid actions that could aggravate it, Report informs referring to foreign media.

“I am deeply saddened by the deteriorating situation in Ukraine. Despite diplomatic efforts in the past few weeks, worrying developments continue to unfold. I pray that all parties refrain from actions that will cause great suffering to many people,” he said.

In addition, the Pope called on the leaders “to political responsibility” when making decisions regarding the situation around Ukraine.

He also declared March 2 an international day of fasting and prayer for peace.
