Pope calls for ‘just and lasting peace’ in Ukraine

The Vatican has announced that Pope Leo will meet Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy after his inaugural mass, Report informs via The Sunday Times.

Leo’s first known call with a foreign leader after his election was with Zelenskyy.

At the end of the mass today, Leo cited the “martyred” Ukraine and appealed for a “just and lasting peace” in the country.
