Poll: Nearly 60% of Britons support declaring state of emergency in English channel

A significant majority of British citizens (58%) are in favor of declaring a state of emergency in the English Channel due to the influx of illegal migrants, mirroring the actions of the United States, which recently announced a nationwide state of emergency in response to the situation at the Mexican border.

Report informs via Daily Mail, which cites the results of a study conducted by the marketing research and analysis agency Opinium, that the British public is calling for decisive measures to address the migrant crisis.

In addition to the support for emergency powers, a majority of Britons (56%) positively assessed the idea of revising the country's trade system, suggesting the use of tariffs against other countries instead of raising taxes. Furthermore, 55% advocated for lowering prices, filling gas storage facilities, and exporting British energy resources worldwide.

The poll also revealed that most respondents support the abolition of government censorship, the return of freedom of speech, and the cessation of attempts to inject ethnic and gender identity into every aspect of life (53%). Moreover, 51% agreed with the idea of an official policy recognizing only two genders - male and female.

The study was conducted among 2,050 adult Britons from January 22 to 24.
