Polish opposition initiates vote of no confidence in Minister of Equality

The Polish opposition is initiating a vote of no confidence in Minister of Equality Katarzyna Kotula over her proposal to simplify legal gender change procedures, chairman of the parliamentary faction "Law and Justice" Mariusz Błaszczak said, according to Report.

"Today we will submit a motion of no confidence in Minister Kotula. We do not agree to the introduction of laws that will allow mutilating children in the name of leftist ideology," he said.

Earlier, Kotula stated that there is a "green light" and a "political decision" regarding a government bill that would simplify gender changes in documents. Currently, transgender individuals wanting to change their gender in documents must sue their parents and contest their decision.

According to Błaszczak, when speaking about this bill, the minister specified that it would not be considered until the end of the presidential election campaign, with the first round scheduled for May 18. In this regard, Błaszczak demanded that Rafał Trzaskowski, the ruling coalition's presidential candidate known for his liberal views, speak out on this issue.
