Poland registers first Omicron strain-related deaths

The first cases of death from infection with the omicron strain have been registered in Poland, Polish Health Ministry spokesman Wojciech Andrusiewicz said at a press conference, Report informs referring to TASS.

“Omicron is also dangerous. We have at least the first two deaths from the new version of the virus - from the Omicron. In total, Poland diagnoses 193 people with this strain,” he said.

He added that both 92 and 85-year-old men, who died of the omicron, were not vaccinated.

Over the past week, the number of people infected with the omicron strain in Poland has increased by 7-8%, the official said.

According to the Ministry of Health, over the past day, 11,106 people have been infected with the coronavirus in the country, 13,797 people have recovered.
