Pistorius confirms plans to deploy Patriot air defense system in Poland

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius confirmed that Germany has offered NATO to temporarily redeploy its Patriot air defense system in Poland at the beginning of next year, Report informs via NTV.

"We will thereby protect the logistics hub in Poland, which is of central importance for equipment deliveries to Ukraine. We thus guarantee the supply of vehicles, weapons, and ammunition to Ukraine," Pistorius stated.

According to the German Defense Ministry, Patriots can be deployed in Poland for up to six months.

Earlier on Thursday, DPA agency, citing its own sources, reported that the system would be deployed near the city of Rzeszów in southeastern Poland. In the coming days, German military specialists will study the conditions on site, and in January 2025, the actual deployment of Patriots will begin. DPA pointed out that Rzeszów has an airport of significant logistical importance - military products are transported to Ukraine through it.
