'Paris has become a prison': French politician criticizes Olympic security measures

The introduction of movement restrictions in certain areas of Paris, complete with police checkpoints and metal barriers, has made the French capital resemble a prison in the lead-up to the Olympic Games, according to Florian Philippot, leader of the French party "The Patriots".

In a post on the social media platform X, Philippot shared his firsthand experience of the situation in Paris. "Having driven through Paris yesterday (of course, refusing to fill out any passes), I am convinced that the capital has turned into a prison! I have not seen anything like this anywhere in the world," he wrote.

Philippot also revealed that some of the police officers he spoke with acknowledged the absurdity of what they were being asked to do, such as wasting time scanning people returning to their homes.

"Unfortunately, they still do it!" he lamented.
