Pakistan supports Turkey’s position on 1915 events

Pakistani Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi supported Turkey’s position on the events of 1915, Report informs referring to Anadolu Agency.

The diplomat made the remark during a telephone conversation with his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu, commenting on the statement of US President Joe Biden, who has recently called the above-mentioned events ‘genocide.’

In turn, Pakistani Foreign Ministry spokesman Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri said that, according to Islamabad, ‘unilateral approaches and political categorization of historical events can undermine trust between countries and lead to polarization.’

Chaudhri added that Pakistan welcomes Ankara’s constructive position on this issue, including the proposal of the Turkish side to establish a joint commission to investigate the events of 1915.
