Pakistan calls for SCO to make climate change priority

The fight against climate change should become a priority for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said at the 23rd meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO CHG) member states, Report informs via TASS.

"Unpredictable climate change poses a threat to the existence of humanity. Its destructive effect is enormous and goes beyond all borders," Sharif said.

"Combating climate change and protecting the environment in the SCO region are crucial for ensuring sustainable development of economic stability and social well-being. As one of the most climate-vulnerable countries, Pakistan testifies to the need to prioritize environmental cooperation among member states to increase resilience and ensure a safer future for our current and future generations," added the prime minister of Pakistan.
