PACE spring session kicks off in Strasbourg

Strasbourg will host the spring session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) in a hybrid format with a limited presence of parliamentarians due to coronavirus restrictions.

Moldovan President Maia Sandu will make a speech to the session participants on Monday and answer questions from parliamentarians and meet with PACE President and Secretary-General of the Council of Europe Marija Pejčinović Burić, Report informs, citing TASS.

On Tuesday, the parliamentarians will be able to communicate in the format of a video conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. In the evening, the Secretary-General of the Council of Europe will make an address. On Wednesday, the President of the European Parliament, David Sassoli, plans to talk to parliamentarians. On Thursday, the Minister for European Affairs in the German Foreign Ministry, Michael Roth, will read out an appeal from the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe (CMCE).

On April 21, Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Dunja Mijatović will present her annual report for 2020.

Earlier, members of the permanent delegation of the Milli Majlis to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Sevinj Fataliyeva, Rafael Huseynov, Nigar Arpadarai, Kamal Jafarov, and Erkin Gadirli left for Strasbourg on April 17 to participate in the PACE spring session.

The PACE session will end on April 23.
