Over 500 flights cancelled in Taiwan as super typhoon Kong-rey approaches

At least 506 flights were canceled in Taiwan due to the approaching super typhoon Kong-rey, according to the island's operational headquarters for natural disaster response, Report informs via TASS.

According to their data, among the canceled flights, 229 were domestic flights, and 277 were flights to mainland China and other countries and regions of the world.

Additionally, 139 ferry services across 11 routes were cancelled. Super typhoon Kong-rey is expected to hit Taiwan's eastern coast in the next few hours.

Wind gusts inside the typhoon reach speeds of up to 63 meters per second. Storm "Kong-rey" formed in the western Pacific Ocean near the Philippines on October 25. On October 29, it intensified into a typhoon.
