Over 20 people detained in Belarus over terror attacks

The State Security Committee of Belarus has detained more than 20 people suspected of attempting to set fire to the house of parliament deputy, chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party of Belarus Oleg Gaidukevich, Deputy Head of the Committee Investigation Department Konstantin Bychek told one of local channels, Report informs.

“More than 20 people were detained, both the perpetrators of the terror attacks and their accomplices. The investigation of the criminal case continues. The accused are actively cooperating with the investigation, give confessions, exposing themselves and their accomplices,” Bychek said.

He noted that the Voitekhovich family is among those detained under Article 289 of the Criminal Code (‘Act of terrorism’) - the head of the family, his wife, son, and daughter-in-law.
