Over 110 migrants try to trespass Poland from Belarus

More than 110 migrants tried to break through the border between Belarus and Poland over the past day.

Report informs citing Interfax that this was announced on Sunday by the Polish Border Guard.

"On March 26, a record 116 people tried to illegally enter the territory of Poland from Belarus," the report says.

"Most of all, 40 of them are at the Kuznitsa frontier post. At the Narevka frontier post, the border service officers after a chase and a warning shot detained a Georgian citizen who did not stop for control," it added.

In 2021, nearly 40,000 people tried to illegally cross the Polish-Belarusian border. Around 2,000 attempts have been recorded since the beginning of the year.

Due to the migration crisis, Lithuania and Poland introduced a state of emergency at the border in 2021, began to erect barbed wire fences, and strengthen border security to stop the flow of illegal immigrants from the territory of Belarus.

The situation on the border of Belarus and Poland became more complicated on November 8, 2021, when several thousand migrants from the Middle Eastern countries who wanted to move to the European Union approached the border from the Belarusian side. Polish officials have described what is happening as the most difficult moment since the beginning of the border crisis.
