Over 11.3 million Wuhan residents tested for coronavirus in five days

The authorities in Wuhan have tested 11.3 million residents for coronavirus within five days, Global Times reported on Monday.

Report informs, citing TASS, that almost all residents of over 12-million strong city have been tested within five days, except for children aged below six and students who left Wuhan for summer vacations.

The city authorities reported the launch of mass testing last Tuesday after several new coronavirus cases were revealed. Before that, Wuhan had not been reporting a single case of coronavirus for more than a year.

Hospitals in China accounted for more than 1,600 coronavirus patients as of August 8. Overall, there are 14 residential areas across the country where the epidemiological threat is high and almost 200 with medium level.
