NVIDIA on track to generate $12B from AI chip sales in China

NVIDIA Corp. is on track to sell $12 billion worth of its AI chips in China this year despite US export controls which have limited its business in the country, Report informs referring to Proactive Investors.

The US blocked China from importing advanced NVIDIA chips in 2022 and tightened its controls last year.

According to estimates from chip consultancy SemiAnalysis, NVIDIA will over the coming months deliver more than 1 million of its new H20 chips, which are designed to fall outside of the US restrictions, to Chinese customers.

This is almost twice as many AI chips as Huawei is expected to sell of its rival product, the Ascend 910B, the analysis showed.

Each H20 chip costs between $12,000 and $13,000, which suggests that Nvidia will generate more than $12 billion in sales, more than the $10.3 billion made from its entire China business in the financial year ending January 2024.
