Norway joins EU's seventh sanctions package against Russia

Norway joined the seventh package of EU sanctions against Russia, which Brussels introduced on July 21, 2022, the Norwegian Foreign Ministry said in a statement, Report informs, citing Interfax.

"We are once again acting in concert with the EU on the application of sanctions against Russia in order to maintain pressure on the Russian leadership and representatives of the Russian elite," said the Kingdom's Foreign Minister Anniken Huitfeldt.

The sanctions, which Norway has joined, further reduce the opportunities for doing business with Russia. In addition, restrictions were imposed against more than 50 individuals, including Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin and the head of Rostec Sergey Chemezov, and 10 legal entities, including Russia's Sberbank .

Also, the seventh package of sanctions provides for a ban on direct and indirect import, purchase or transfer of gold.
